The Problem

The FCC estimates about 20 million people in rural America are without broadband, but it's widely thought that number is far higher. Having internet access that is fast and reliable is linked to academic success in children, and those living in rural areas are disproportionately at risk of falling behind. Without a rural digitization act, rural areas will continue to fall further behind, especially in a new economy where social distancing and remote work might be the norm.

Approach

I explored the idea of not having the same opportunities in life compared to those with broadband internet access: not just for yourself, but also for your children and loved ones. Taking inspiration from a childhood classic, Oh, The Places You’ll Go! by Dr. Seuss, my video tells a story of how far you can go in life, and how great you can be, if only you had access to the internet.
